getting ready to presentSince this is our last week of Genius Hour I started preparing for my presentation. I created a google form where my friends and family can vote on my photos that I have taken throughout the twelve weeks of my Genius Hour project. I set it up where they choose their personal favorite from combination of several weeks. This will show my progress from start to finish. My last photosSadly these are my last photos I got to take for Genius Hour. I am happy to say that I have learned a lot more about photography over the last twelve weeks. This week I only took two pictures but I really liked how they turned out. For one of the pictures I took it very close to the ground to try a new angle. The second picture I took was more of a normal centered picture but I still like how the photo looks.

A little bit of everythingThis week I wanted to research and tryout some new things so that next week, which is our last week of Genius Hour, I could show my favorites. I'm very proud of myself because of all the new things I have learned and just having fun. I think I will continue to take photos because it's become a hobby and I thoroughly enjoy it. I took pictures of nature, animals, and lost of other things. I tried to use different angles and lighting to change up the way I normally take photos. This week I'm the most excited about how my pictures turned out.
Nature PicturesThis week I just decided I would take pictures when I saw something that inspired me. I noticed that all the pictures I took were of nature. I learned that I really like nature photography. I like how something naturally formed is so beautiful that it can be the center of a photo. I love the colors, textures, and depth of nature photography. I also liked the time of day I took the photos. Some were taken right at sunset and the others were taken around mid-day. I hope I can continue to take and incorporate nature in my photographs.
ShadowsThis week I'm going to be focusing on shadows and different techniques with light. I was researching different types of photos to do because I was stuck. The photos I saw were super cool and I can use techniques like rule of thirds to make the photos have more interesting details. I think it would be cool to take photos of different shadow shapes or pictures of sparklers. I learned more about timing and when I needed to take the pictures. It was fun to try this new technique with lighting and I can't wait to keep practicing it.
Not what I expectedThis week I tried something a little different. I made my own set-ups in my room and took pictures of them. I think it turned out pretty good, but it's different from what I normally do. I'm glad that I got to do something out of my comfort zone because it made me a better photographer. I took pictures of my converse, books, and other decor items. I used things like lights to add more detail into the picture. It was super fun getting to take these pictures and I challenge you to try something out of your comfort zone. Bonus! This week we got a few photos from the photographer at the wedding and I thought it would be cool to show you some of them. They are definitely better than mine, but one day I might become as good as her. I just have to keep practicing.
the planIt's time for the wedding! I'm super excited to learn and take some super cool shots of the venue and the wedding party. There will be a professional photographer there and I'm hoping she can tell me some tips and tricks. While the photographer was taking photos I noticed she talked a lot about lighting. She would move us to shady places because harsh lighting doesn't look good in the photos. She also used a light reflector to help reflect light into certain spots that were darker than others. In conclusion this week I learned that lighting is your best friend in photography. how did it go?I got to take some photos but not as many as I had hoped and learned a lot. I took photos of the wedding venue and I tried to incorporate using the lighting in the proper ways. I took a photo of the dinner tables, the wedding cake, the dessert table, the lobby, and the Mr and Mrs table.
WHat did I do?This week was a great week for taking photo. I had plenty of free time to plan and take all the photos I wanted. The first photos I took were of me and my siblings because the theme of all my photos this week were things that make me feel whether it be sad, happy, or inspired. My siblings definitely make me feel every emotion possible. The next photos I took were of my cows because I love animals. They make me feel comforted when I get to pet them. I feel like I can talk about all my problems and they will listen to all of them. Then I took some pictures of plants and nature because it makes me feel calm. I love to just sit outside on a nice sunny day and just listen to the leaves rustle on the trees or the birds chirp. It can also makes me feel scared when it's storming and the trees look like they are about to get pulled out of the ground. Last but not least it can make me feel playful. When it snows I love to go sledding or have snowball fights. When it's summer I love to go to the beach and play in the water. In these pictures I tried to used different lighting techniques to make the photos interesting. I also used rule of thirds, viewpoint, depth, and framing on all of these pictures. I learned a lot about taking your time while taking your photos. I'm stuckThis week I don't have any clue what I want to do. I've started to brainstorm some ideas like animals or things that make me smile. This week is causing me to learn a lot. I haven't gotten to take any photos, but I've made sure to use that time wisely. I'm starting to plan out what I want to do and brainstorm ideas of the photos I want to take. This week may not of been what I planned or wanted it to be, but it worked out for the better. The game planNext week I will be taking pictures of things that make me feel and I will be incorporating new techniques I'm learning along the way. Week 7 I will be taking some photos of my sister's wedding and I'm super excited for those pictures. Week 8 I'm going to be taking pictures of things that define me. It can be things like my friends, things I like to do, school, church, and much more. I can't wait to see what the next few weeks have in store for me.
Time to try againSince I didn't get take as many sunset and sunrise photos, I'm going to continue it into this week. I want to learn some more tips and tricks to help and take more variety. One tip I've learned is to plan the picture ahead of time. This helps you to get the best possible picture. It also helps to try different angles and techniques whether it be using a tripod or the type of lens you use. Keeping the rule of thirds in your mind while taking sunrise and sunset photos will help to improve them. If you keep shooting the sunrise or sunset may change colors making you have a cooler shot. Some settings on your camera may need to be changed in order to help enhance the sunrise or sunset photo. DID i learn? This week I took so many sunrise and sunset photos. I tried some new techniques when taking them and I think they turned out pretty well. I'm glad I decided to take an extra week to do this because I learned so much and had lots of fun while doing it. This showed me that things may not go as planned but I can find a way to do in the end.
setting a focusThis week I want to focus on just a certain type of photo. I really like sunset or sunrise photos. They are so beautiful because they have many different colors. My plan is to take some photos throughout the week of either the sunset or sunrise. I will try to take in different places to make each of them unique. Some of the ideas I had were to add something in the foreground to make the picture look more interesting. I will also use something I learned last week, the rule of thirds. This will also help to make the picture more dynamic. Another tip I learned that helps with taking sunset and sunrise photos is not to have your flash on because it disturbs the natural light. All of these things will help me to take the best sunset and sunrise photos. What problems i ran intoThis week might not have been the best week to take sunset and sunrise pictures because it has been very overcast most of this week. I did get a few pictures but not as many as I had hoped. I have learned from this that before I decide what I'm doing for the week I should check things like the weather or anything that might cause a problem making me mess up my pictures.
